Metsimaholo Local Municipality has reshuffled its cabinet and introduced a new member of the mayoral committee during a council meeting on Wednesday. The announcement was made by the acting Executive Mayor of Metsimaholo, Cllr. Nomsa Khubeka.
"Cllr. Thandi Soetsang who was our Council Whip was taken to serve at Fezile Dabi District Municipality by the African National Congress, leaving her position vacant. We then, elected Cllr. Khabonina Makhoba to be our new Council Whip,” said Cllr. Nomsa Khubeka.
Subsequent to the appointment of Cllr. Khabonina Makhoba as the Council Whip, her position as the MMC for Social Services became vacant which led to the introduction of Cllr. Nokuthula Mtshali, who is now the MMC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Health and Special Programmes. Wednesday’s announcement saw Cllr. Nokuthula Mtshali from Ward 10 being promoted.
“Cllr. Nkono Radebe who was the MMC for Special Programmes is now the new MMC for Corporate Services. Then Cllr. (Lebogang) Semonyo moved from Corporate Services to Social Services. The rest of the MMCs retained their portfolios. Meanwhile, the ANC in Fezile Dabi has welcomed the moves made by Metsimaholo Local Municipality. Speaking to the Regional Secretary of the ANC in Fezile Dabi, Moshe Tladi, indicated that collective leadership is very key at the municipality.
“Comrades must work together and must ensure that service delivery reach the end user, which is our people,” Tladi said. With 2016 as the local government election around the corner, Tladi said the ANC will continue to work hard for the people.
